Like many community based coalitions, the Winchester Coalition for a Safer Community recognizes the importance of getting parents and other adult caregivers to actively participate in activities that promote health for children, teens and young adults.
Developing strategies to advance this objective has been a priority for the organization. The coalition recently received funding from SAMHSA to use concept mapping to bring together the diverse views and expertise of the community to identify strategies for preventing bullying in school and community settings. The project will be led by Liz Silva, Executive Director of the coalition in partnership with Circa Learning.
Concept mapping is a web based tool that maximizes the engagement of stakeholders in defining solutions around an issue of concern and creates a data driven, consensus framework for strategic solutions and opportunities for success.
Prevention Educators will be following the progress of the project and presenting updates in the weeks to come. Liz Silva invites members of the Prevention Educators community to post questions and comments on the coalition's project.
